I have a nifty little program installed on my computer called Hot Bars. Every day before I start serious computing, I check out the section called Daily Fun. There's cute photos, a joke and a funny news clipping. But what got me the other day was a quote: "You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses".
It was an 'ah-ha'
moment for me. I had lost my perspective on life. Indeed, I
saw my life (the rose) full of delays, detours, set-backs,
frustrations, irritations, and disappointments (the thorns).
If I looked at it the other way, that all of life is comprised of
many trials, bumps, tests and difficulties (thorns) but that
spaced generously wherever I turned, there was joy, peace,
contentment, balance, beauty and love (rose). All I had to
do is appreciate the present (that's why it's called a gift) and
do what's in front of me now, and I have a whole new attitude.

**All the insurance machines in the terminal are sold out.
**Before the flight, the passengers get together and elect a pilot.

**The Captain asks all the passengers to chip in a little for gas.
**When they pull the steps away, the plane starts rocking.
**The Captain yells at the ground crew to get the cows off the runway.

**No movie. Don't need one. Your life keeps flashing before your eyes.

Even after 2 brain surgeries and multiple mini-strokes, my mother is still the most wonderful person I know. She tells everyone within earshot that the best thing that ever happened to her was adopting me and my brother. She's kind, considerate and has a unique, simple outlook on life that keeps me grateful for every day that she's in my life.
While in chilly Wisconsin we had a long walk to return to our car from a festival we attended. Mom walks a little slower these days and we were encouraging her to speed it up to get out of the cold air. She said "My nose is running faster than I am!"
