Hi

I was referred to you by Terry McFarland of the Space Coast Cancer Center.  I was a guest at her Breast Cancer Support Group meeting and gave an informal talk about the scientific, physical and mental effects of using music to help patients with many different aspects of their illness and treatment.

My name is Kris Lee-Scott, but most people call my by my nickname "Hanai" (Hawaiian for 'adopted one')  In 1992 my little kitty KeaKittenoutline"Kea" was dying of feline leukemia.  Since she was in a lot of pain, I began composing and playing soft, instrumental music to help soothe and relax her.  It seemed to have an amazing effect on both of us, so I spent  the next 20 years researching and producing 'medical' or relaxation music.

Because I have never had any formal musical training, and only began composing at age 37, I feel that I have been given a great gift to help others discover this powerful tool that is now known all over the world on radio & TV as well as over 100,000 albums sold to date. You can read more at: www.HanaiMusic.com or call me at (800) 959-5747 or locally at (321) 243-4324.

My talk can be addressed to patients, nurses, technicians, caregivers, social workers, and more.  I usually pass out an interactive informational sheet, and involve the participants with questions, examples, and new ideas.  During the presentation I play a few samples of the type of music to look for, discuss how it can affect us, how to identify it, where to find it and more.

If you have the
equipment, I can also play a DVD on your screen or TV of a 'Nature Meditation' to show how images set to music can enhance the body's relaxation response.

The entire presentation can be adjusted from 30-45 minutes or up to 1 hour.  I usually come early to do some setup with my small sound system, but I prefer to talk at the very end of your meeting, whether I stay in the same room, or come in later.

There is no charge for the talk...it's free!   If it's outside Titusville, some groups have contributed a little towards my fuel costs to get to their
location and back, which I greatly appreciate.

I do bring a few CDs with me, in case there is an immediate need, but if you can provide a small table, I can put out literature, freebies and handouts for your participants to browse after the talk.

If this sounds like something that may be of interest to your group, please let me know right away.  I am already scheduling into next year, and since you were directly referred by Terry, I would like to make your group a priority. If you know of any other groups, please feel free to forward this to anyone with a possible interest. Thank you.

Kind Regards,
